Daily Meditation- GIVING TITHES
(by Dr. John Williams)

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse and prove me now, sayeth the Lord of host, if I will not open the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that ye shall not have room enough to receive it! (Malachi 3:28)

1. Giving “All Your Tithes” is a commandment of God
(Some believe that tithing is an Old Testament law. If you will take that position you should note that the standard or the requirement of New Testament is higher than that of the Old Testament. In that case we should be giving more than the tithes.)
• Give tithes to the Lord from all the revenue and blessings we get
• Tithes is not just one tenth of all the revenue we get from all sources including
• The rent we collect from the houses we own
• Revenue we get from various kinds of investments we make
• Gifts we receive from various sources
• Capital appreciation or gains of anything that we purchase and sell later etc.

2. Where should we give our Tithes?
• Tithes should be given to the local Church to which we belong if all of our Spiritual needs are met there, and we are also helped and given an opportunity to discover and fulfill God’s calling on our life
• If our local Church Does not:
• Help us in discovering God’s will for our lives;
• Train or disciple us to be able to fulfill God’s calling or will
• Give us an opportunity to serve God in the area of our calling
Then we should seek these opportunities elsewhere and also to the extent necessary give a part of our tithes to other ministries or which would help us to fulfill God’s calling and purpose in our lives.

When we have our own ministry we should give our tithes to the Church where we have membership and where we are spiritually nurtured, given spiritual covering and necessary spiritual counseling.

Anyway the important point is we should set aside one tenth of all of our revenue and make sure that they are used for ministry purposes.

3. God’s Promise to bless us abundantly when we give all of our Tithes
• When we give all of our tithes God has promised to bless us abundantly to the extent that we will not have any more room to receive it, which means that we will have more than what we need and we will be in a position to give abundantly to others
• On the contrary if we always lack and are in need, not having sufficient means for our own needs to be met, it is certainly because we are not giving all of our tithes according to God’s law

4. Conclusion
God’s plan is that one tenth of all the blessings of all the believers should be used for the ministry, and that is to meet the needs of the Churches and Ministries to reach the whole world with the gospel. Just because people are not faithful in giving all of their tithes there is a lack in finances in the Churches, ministries and person lives of believers universally. This can be seen through the inability of individuals and Churches to fulfill God’s calling and assignment. There seems to be an ongoing frustration, lack and inability for their budgetary needs to be met. There should not be insufficiency of funds and resources to any believer, Church or Christian organization. The needs should not be met by for engaging oneself in some kind of a fund raising project all the time and confessing that they do not have enough funds for their personal and ministry needs to be met.
