Success in the Ministry
By Rev. Dr. John Williams
I am sure that everyone will agree that not
everyone that is in the ministry is successful, in terms of achieving their
goals, generating adequate revenue to cover all of their expenses and reaching
the people with the gospel in a certain area.
If a ministry is running a church, there must be adequate growth in the members
of the church, in terms of the goals established, growth in finance through
tithes and offerings, to adequately meet the financial needs of the church,
having adequate spiritual growth in the members of the church, in terms of
becoming more and more Christ like, and more specifically in the areas of love,
joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance.
If the ministry is evangelism, running a bible school, literature ministry,
Christian radio broadcasting, TV ministry, doing missionary work overseas, doing
social work, in terms of feeding t he hungry, taking care of the orphans,
running a hospital, running a school or bible college, etc, it is very important
to make sure that every member of the church or those associated with their
ministry, grows in faith, gains spiritual understanding of the word of God,
clearly know and understand the will of God for their lives, become Christ like
and be instrumental in winning many souls for Christ.
On the other hand, it is important, particularly, in the ministry of the church:
to ensure that the word is taught effectively and people grow spiritually
find their niche in the body of Christ
realize their full potential
become strong in faith and be able to do effectual and fervent prayer to get the answers
be able to minister to the needs of others
give sacrificially to the needy and the poor
to give all of their tithes and offerings as required or expected in the bible
growing in the knowledge of the word
grow spiritually and become more and more Christ like &
become true disciples of Jesus Christ
In this article, only some important points have been made and illustrations
have been given. It is important that churches maintain records with regard to
every member in these areas to ensure the success of their church. Record
keeping is very important and what is equally important, is setting goals,
developing effective programs, successfully executing them and achieving the
goals of the church. Only then, can we say that the ministry of the church is
successful!
