"This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and
manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him"

The Marriage in Cana of Galilee

The Mother of Jesus, Jesus and His disciples were invited to a Marriage in Canaan.  Since they went out of wine at the wedding, the Mother of Jesus brought this fact to the attention of Jesus.  Jesus replied saying, that He cannot do anything about it, since His time had not yet come.  His mother, however, said unto the servants, "Do whatever, He says to you".  There were six pots of stone in that place.  Jesus said unto them, to fill all those pots with water, and they filled them up to the brim.  Then He told them to draw from those pots and serve the Ruler of the feast.  The Governor of the feast called the Bridegroom and said,  "Every one generally serve the good wine first until all the people are well drunk and then drink the worse, but thou hast kept the good wine until the end. Jesus turned the water into wine at this wedding. This was the beginning of the miracles that Jesus did in Cana of Galilee.

The Visit of Jesus to Capernaum :
Then Jesus visited Capernaum along with His mother, brothers, and His disciples. And they all stayed there for several days.  Since it was the Pass Over time, Jesus went to Jerusalem.  There in a Temple, He found some people selling Oxen, Sheep and Doves, and some money Changers. When jesus saw this, He got indignant and drove them all out of the Temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; poured out the changers' money and overthrew the tables.  Jesus was upset over the fact that they were selling these merchandise in the Temple, a Holy Place, and therefore, He rebuked them saying "why do you make my Father's house, a House of Merchandise.   This statement made disciples to recall a prophecy about "the zeal of Jesus."

In that context, Jesus said "Destroy this Temple (meaning his own body), and I will raise it up in three days".  The disciples took it literally and kind of wondered, how He could build the temple in 3 days,  since it took six years for them to build that Temple. When Jesus was risen from the dead in three days after his burial, His disciples remembered what He said to them at that time. Many people believed in Jesus, when they saw the miracles performed by Jesus, when He was in Jerusalem

Summary and Conclusion

  • Jesus was the Son of God, an Incarnation of God in the form of man

  • Jesus Christ was 100% God and at the same time 100% Man

  • Jesus demonstrated the above facts through the miracles, that he performed during His ministry, and particularly in the Wedding of Cana by turning water into wine, which was just the beginning of innumerable miracles, that He performed during his Ministry.

  • We should know and believe that just as He said, He is the same Yesterday, Today and For Ever.

  • We also read in the Bible that where two or three people gather in His name, there He will be in their midst.

  • We should never forget the fact, that because he is ever present with us, when we call upon His name and ask for any thing, He will give it to us.

  • We do not have to figure out how we can ask Him to do some thing that is naturally or seemingly impossible, because He is a Miracle Worker Yesterday, Today and for Ever!
