"The Joy of the Lord is our Strength"
 (Nehemiah 8:10)

I. The Important Scriptures on the Subject of Joy
1.     A Merry heart doeth good like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22)
2.     In His presence there is fullness of Joy and at His right hand there are pleasures for ever more (Psalm 16:11)
3.    The Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace ….. (Galatians 5:22)
4.  For the Lord Your God will Bless you in all your harvests and in all the work of your hands, and the Joy will be 
     complete (Deuteronomy 16:15)
5.  But the Lord made the Heavens.  Splendor and Majesty are before Him; Strength and Joy in His dwelling place 
    (I Chronicles 16:27)
6.  Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared.  
     This day is sacred for our Lord.  Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10)
7.  When the Jews got released from the enemies, and as the month when the sorrow was turned into joy and their 
     mourning into a day of celebration.   He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving 
     presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor  (Esther 9:22)         
8.  While the morning stars sang together and all the Angels shouted for Joy (Job 38:7)
9.  If you have filled my heart with greater joy then when their grain and new wine abound (Psalm 4:7)         
10. Surely you have granted him eternal blessing and made him joy  with your presence  (Psalm 21:6)
 11. You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sack cloth and clothed me with joy (Psalm 30:11)
12.  Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring to the Holy mountain, to the place where you  
        dwell. Then  will I go to the altar of God, my joy and my delight (Psalm 43:4-5)
13. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me  (Psalm 51:12)
14. Shout with Joy to God, all the earth  you let me ride over our heads; we went through fire and water but you brought 
     to a place of abundance (Psalm 66:1)
15. Let the feast be jubilant and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy (Psalm 96:12)
16. …. And tell of his works with songs of joy (Psalm 107:22)
17. ….they are the joy of my heart (Psalm 119:111)
18. A wise son brings joy to his father (Proverbs 10:1)
19. The prospect of the righteous is joy (Proverbs 10:28)
20. But the joy of those who promote peace (Proverbs 12:20)
21. …Everlasting joy will crown their heads (Isaiah 25:10)
22. Gladness and joy will overtake thee (Isaiah 51:11)
23.  you will go out in joy (Isaiah 58:12)
24. The baby in my womb leaped for joy (Luke 1:44)
25. …News of great joy that will be …. (Luke 2:10)
26. … and that your joy may be complete (John 15:11)
27. your grieve will turn to joy (John 16:20)
28. Then make my joy complete Philippians 2:2
29. and long  for my joy and crown Philippians 4:1
30. For what is our hope our joy … I Thessalonians 2:19
31. We love has given me great joy (Philemon 7)
32. ... for the joy set before him endured …(Hebrews 12:2)
33. Consider it pure joy, my brothers …(James 1:2)
34. ….with an inexpressible and glorious joy (I Peter 1:8)
35. It has given me great joy to find some…..(II John 4)
36. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth  (III John 4)  

 II. What is Joy?
1.     Joy is a Spiritual Characteristic or Quality
2.     Joy is something that originates and comes from the Lord
3.     Joy is intricately intertwined with peace, an another spiritual quality which God alone can give
4.     Joy is something like spiritual waves that transcend the body, mind and spirit
5.     Joy has Healing Power and the Ability to Resist Sickness
6.     Joy is exhibited through Emotional Displays, but an emotional display which seems like Joy, may not be the True Joy  
     that the Lord gives
7.     Joy is distinct or different from happiness which the world may give
8.     Joy is not just pleasure that one gets from a variety of sources and for a variety of reasons, unless it is spiritual and 
     comes from the Lord
9.     True Joy being a Spiritual quality, is different from Good Feelings and Worldly Pleasures which has no Spiritual 
     Value or Significance
10. Those who seek worldly or physical pleasures that can be experienced by the five physical senses such as sight, 
      hearing, smell, taste and the sense of touch is not the True Spiritual Joy even though it may not be wrong or immoral  
 III.          The Value of Joy
1.     The joy keeps a person in good health and causes the sickness to leave
2.     The joy adds peace to the person when he has it
3.     The joy has with it the presence of God
4.     The joy makes a person total and complete in himself, and does not make him feel like something is missing or 
     needed
5.     The joy is a characteristic and the nature of God himself
6.     The joy is something that the world cannot give
7.     The source of joy is God himself
8.     The joy takes away the sadness and worry
9.     The joy gives a great feeling of :
·        Exuberance
·        Splendor
·        Fullness
·        Celebration
·        Dancing
·        Jubilance
·        Leaping and Jumping
·        Completeness
·        Great Hope
·        Glory &
·        Peace
