1. WHAT IS BODY, SOUL AND SPIRIT OF A MAN?

  • The Human Body which has been designed and made by God according to the Bible, is endowed with five physical senses
  • The Human body has the senses of touch, smell, hearing, sight and taste
  • The Body is perishable, mortal and is subject to pain, suffering and sickness
  • The Body is essential for existence on this planet, and it is endowed with a Soul and a Spirit.
  • The Soul consists of a Mind, an Emotion and a Will
  • Emotion is intricately intertwined with the Spirit, and both of them operate in and through the human body
  • Emotion includes happiness, sadness, worry, dullness, being moody, excitement etc.
  • Mind has the ability to think, rationalize, memorize, interpret, imagine, understand etc.
  • Mind has varying degrees of intelligence and capability to develop further
  • The human Will has the ability to decide and determine, whether to do or not to do
  • Will is closely related to ones Ego, Bias, Preconceptions, Determinations, Decisions, Values, Philosophy etc.
  • The Spirit and Soul cannot be separated even when a person dies, but they have their own identity and purpose
  • The Spirit is the Quality, attribute, characteristics, nature and ingredient of God, which has been imparted into human beings
  • Spiritual attributes of man include love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance (these qualities are referred to as the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23)
  • The other spiritual qualities are forgiveness, giving, creativity, wisdom, spiritual power, power to get wealth etc.
2. HOW DO BODY, SOUL AND SPIRIT FUNCTION
    OR OPERATE?
  • Body, Soul and Spirit constitute the human being together, and at the same time we can identify each one of these components and their individual role and significance
  • The Spirit controls the body and the Soul
  • When the Spirit grows and matures, it keeps the Body and Soul under subjection
  • The Spirit can transcend the human Body and Soul
  • The Spirit can give commands to the Body as well as the emotion to function the way it should, in different situations
  • The Spirit, Soul and Body are interdependent, while they are intertwined or interconnected
  • The Human Will plays a key role in decision making
  • The Spiritual strength and knowledge influence the decision making process, and the decisions made, control the human behavior
  • The Human Will controls and regulates the human Emotions
  • The Spiritual growth and maturity, as well as the Human Will causes spiritual growth, and protects the human integrity, ethics and morality
3. WHY SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT THE IDENTITY
AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE BODY,
    SOUL AND SPIRIT?
  • In order to fulfill God's plan and purposes
  • In order to protect our health
  • In order to have joy and peace
  • In order to maintain a good balance in our life
  • In order to attain full maturity spiritually
  • In order to become Christ like
  • In order to do good and avoid evil
  • In order to protect ourselves and escape danger
  • In order to develop our spiritual faculties
  • In order to live a good moral and a spiritual life
  • In order to protect our health and body from decay, corruption and sickness
  • In order to live a meaningful, exciting and long life
  • In order to have fulfillment and success in life
  • In order to realize our full potential and enjoy life fully
