1. WHAT IS SELF CONTROL?

  • This is a sign of spiritual Maturity
  • It is the Fruit of the Spirit
  • It is a result of attaining Spiritual Maturity
  • It is a spiritual quality and we all need to go in this dimension
  • It is a spiritual quality that we can have only through spiritual growth and maturity
  • It is not an intellectual quality or a physical quality
  • It is refraining from doing something we should not
  • It is keeping in control our whole being in subjection, our whole being,
according to the Biblical principles and standards
  • It is a state that we reach in several areas and aspects of our life which will reflect and demonstration our spiritual maturity in terms of the ability to follow the spiritual laws written in the Bible
2. WHY SHOULD WE HAVE SELF CONTROL?
  • In order to have control over our Whole Life we should have Self Control
  • In order to grow Spiritually
  • In order to demonstrate our Spiritual Maturity and Growth
  • In order to fulfill the Laws of God
  • In order to fulfill God's Calling
  • In order to have a Good Testimony in the world as well as among Christians
  • In order to reflect the Image of Jesus Christ
  • In order to retain our Peace and Joy
  • In order to Love others
  • In order to avoid Committing Sins
  • In order to fulfill God's Laws
3. IN WHAT AREAS WE SHOULD HAVE SELF CONTROL?
  • We should control our Temper
  • We should control all of our Appetites
  • We should control our Speech
  • We should control our Actions to confirm to the Biblical standards
  • We should control the way we Spend Our Life which means how we spend our Money and our Time
  • We should control our Emotions
  • We should control our Body and keep it in subjection without committing the
    sins listed in the Bible
  • We should control our Anger
  • We should control all of our Actions to ensure that we do not violate any of
    God's laws
  • We should control our Actions to ensure that we fulfill all of God's Laws

4. HOW CAN WE HAVE SELF CONTROL?

  • By making a decision to Exercise our Self Control in all areas
  • By making a List of all areas in which we lack Self Control but we
    should have Self Control
  • By Noting down every time we lose Self Control and the circumstances surrounding that
  • By reviewing our Conduct at the end of each day and bring to our
remembrance the instances in which we lost our Self Control and the
    reason why we did
  • By seeking the Help of the Holy Spirit
  • By Confessing and Admitting to the one responsible or affected by our conduct
  • By Confessing and Admitting publicly the fact that we lost Self Control
  • By Apologizing for losing Self Control and hurting or affecting someone
  • By Regretting sincerely every time we lose Self Control and making a decision immediately to be strong spiritually in the future and to avoid such incidence
  • By working in all areas of our Weaknesses under which we tend to lose
Self Control and commit a sin or do something that will hurt or affect others
